Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction in Scottsdale, Arizona, had another epic event this year. Thanks to a growing number of million-dollar automobiles and a show on SPEED, Barrett-Jackson draws more looky-loos than any other such event. Although Barrett-Jackson has some rare and exotic cars, they also have some car that make you want to say REALLY? So we have picked some of those unexpected cars...
#1 - Literally lot #1, a 1983 Chrysler Lebaron Town & Country Convertible. Really? I would expect to see this car in one of the local car lots, not at Barrett-Jacksons. This car brought in $6,600, maybe we will see it in a museum somewhere.
#2 - Lot: 310.1, a 1968 Ultra Motorhome. I guess if you really want a custom build motorhome, this thing could be yours. It sold for $1,375.00, what a bargain.
#3 - Lot# 1507, a 1971 Kelsen Sports Rider Electric Motorcar... I just can not call this a real car, however it did sell for to one lucky person for $1,540.00.
#4 - Lot: 710.1 - 1969 2-Man Sonar Submarine… What does one do with something like this? I guess you could always play Yellow Submarine with the signed guitar by Sir Paul McCartney that comes with the sub. This one went for $58,300.00.
#5 - Lot: 656.1 - 1999 Oldsmobile Silhouette OSV #2… I understand that this is an old SEMA vehicle, but it is still just a minivan. One lucky person got this one for only $18,150.00
#6 - Lot: 2 - 1975 AMC Pacer X 2 Door… I only have one thing to say, WHY? It sold for $11,550.00, maybe this person also bought some beach front property in Arizona.
#7 - Lot: 3.1 - 1946 Chevrolet Flat Bed Truck… I’m not sure this one was at the right auction, maybe it should have been at CoParts? Some lucky guy got it for $3,300.00.
#8 - Lot: 94 - 1952 Chevrolet Pickup… This truck is listed as having “true patina finish that only Mother Nature can produce” now all it needs is a couple of gallons of Por-15. Someone definitely saw the beauty of this truck and paid $28,600 for it.
Well I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder, or in this case bidder.
